Lesley Kice Nishigawara is a textile artist based in Southern California. Her work focuses on the grid’s fundamental structure in patterning and construction through multi-layered weavings that push the technical capabilities of the loom. Off loom exploration through small scale drawings are also fundamental to her practice, allowing for experimentation with sewing and collage.
Kice Nishigawara’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at institutions including: China Nation Silk Museum, (Hangzhou, China); Cheongju-si, Sanding-gu (Republic of Korea); Tama Art University Museum (Tama, Japan); Espace Roi Baudouin au Sein du Palais des Académies, (Brussels, Belgium); and Felissimo Design House (New York, NY). Her work has been featured in several publications including Memory on Cloth: Shibori Now and Fiber Arts Design Book 7.
